Yolanda E. Yetty

January 16, 1919 - March 1, 2022

On Tuesday, March 1, 2022, Yolanda Elaine (Peters) Yetty passed away at the age of 103. She was born on January 6, 1919, in Utica, NY to Dominick and Maria Pietropauli. Yolanda attended Utica Public Schools. She married Paul Yetty from Herkimer, NY in 1958, and they remained together until Paul passed away in 1976. Yolanda had a passion for cooking and ran Yetty’s Pizzeria until 1977. She loved entertaining her customers with jukebox music, told unlimited stories to friends and family, and loved antiquing. Every niece and nephew knew their nursery rhymes, listened to her read poetry and heard about famous singers before they attended school. Yolanda loved rock-n-roll music so much that she memorized most of the songs from her jukebox. When she went shopping for antiques she prided herself in negotiating rock bottom prices with the dealers. On a typical Tuesday day-off from her pizzeria, she would pick up her sisters, and drive them hundreds of miles to antique dealerships, have lunches and dinners on the go, and then return with her station wagon full of antiques. She was also known for her quick wit, her infectious smile, and her kind and compassionate spirit. Because she was close to her Lord, He honored her with love and life-long endurance. Yolanda was the youngest of nine siblings and was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters: Fred (Angie) Peters; Regetta (Joe) Peters; Frank (Mary) Peters; Dr. Nicholas (Lucy) Peters; Theresa (John) Mozzetti; Josephine (Marsette) Vona; Jennie (Steve) Schiavi; and Pauline Peters. She loved all her nieces and nephews, as well as her grand and great-nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday from 9:30 to 10 a.m. at Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish, Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 2222 Genesee St., Utica. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Utica. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Yolanda’s memory to a charity of choice.
