Walter J. Trzcinski Utica/Forestport Walter, J. (The Cigar Man) Trzcinski, 85, a lifelong Utica and Forestport resident died on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at his home after a long illness. He was born in Utica on May 15, 1923 the son of Peter and Aniela Bal Trzcinski. He was a graduate of Holy Trinity Grammar School also of U.F.A. and continued his education at Cornell University and Harvard University School of Business. On April 11, 1942 he was married to Rose Mancini in St. Peter's Church in Syracuse; a loving union for over 66 years. Walter served proudly with the U.S. Army during WW II. His last place of employment was an Account Executive for the Nat Sherman Cigar Co. 5th Avenue, New York City. He was also a Division manager for Bayuk and a Broker for Gradiaz Annis and a Regional Manager with General Cigar and Premium Cigar Specialists. Walt was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Utica, the Polish Fillaret Choir and the Jan Robak P.L.A.V. Post # 8, Utica. His survivors include his beloved wife Rose Trzcinski of Utica; a son Walter C. Trzcinski of Utica; two grandsons, David Trczinski of Boston, MA and Adam Trzcinski of Aspen, CO; a Goddaughter Alicia Smith and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his infant daughter Caroline, his brothers Vincent, Stanley and Frank, his sister Gladys and his step-mother Caroline. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 8:30am from the Kowalczyk Funeral Home 1156 Lincoln Avenue, Utica and at 9am at Holy Trinity Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends may call on Today from 4 until 7pm. Burial take place in Holy Trinity Cemetery. Walter's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Hospice staff for the care and compassion shown to Walter throughout his illness. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the holy Trinity Church Memorial Fund 1206 Lincoln Avenue, Utica, NY 13502 or to Hospice & Palliative Care 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413.
