Stanley S. Gacek

April 6, 1921 - February 1, 2022

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the loss of Stanley Gacek, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Stanley passed away peacefully at MVHS Rehab & Nursing, on February 1, 2022, after a short illness. His two sons were by his side. Born on April 6, 1921, in Utica, Stanley was the son of the late Martin and Catherine (Cieslak) Gacek. He was educated locally at UFA. Stanley proudly served his country in the U. S. Army as Staff Sergeant from 1940-1945 where he earned the prestigious Soldier’s Medal, awarded for distinguishing oneself by heroism. On April 26, 1943, Stanley married Gladys Bulak in Holy Trinity Church. They shared a blessed union of over 52 years prior to her passing on June 18, 1995. He worked in production at Kelsey Hayes, Whitestown. Stanley was a league bowler and golfer. He also enjoyed watching sports on television, discussing politics, fishing for walleyes, and family trips to Black Lake, NY. Stanley is survived by his children, Ralph and Lorna Gacek, Utica, Dennis Gacek, New Hartford and his girlfriend, Aranka Williams of Utica and her son, Keith Williams and his wife, Tara and their daughter, Kaia of CT; grandson, Michael Gacek, New Hartford; brother, Casimir Gacek, Alexandria, VA, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by siblings and in-laws, Sophie and John Jones, John Gacek, Elizabeth and Salvatore Cirillo, Rev. Eugene Gacek, and Chester and Dorothy Gacek. In keeping with Stanley’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Monday at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church. Interment will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Stanley’s name may be made to two of the many organizations that he held close to his heart, the Abraham House (www.abrahamhouse.org) or CABVI (www.cabvi.org). Envelopes will also be available at the Mass.
