Sophie (Babchi) Duda New York Mills / Utica Sophie (Babchi) Duda, 92, of New York Mills and formally of Utica, died Friday June 6, 2008 at St Elizabeth Medical Center with her Loving family by her side. She was born in Utica on March 24, 1916, the daughter of the late Konstanty and Anna Jablonski Slivonik and attended local Schools. In 1936 she married Walter L. Duda in Holy Trinity Church, he died in 1978. She was employed by Abloves Laundry until her retirement and was a member of Holy Trinity Church. Her Survivors include her son, Ronald W. and his wife Marguerite Duda of Yorkville; two grandchildren, Christian and her husband Anthony DeSarro and their children Anthony Jr., Ronald and Brianne of Liverpool, Kimberly and her husband William P. Carroll Jr. and their children Michael and Nicolette of New Hartford One niece Stephanie Borek of Yorkville. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Monday at 10:30 am in Holy Trinity Church. There will be no visiting hours. Burial will take place in Holy Trinity Cemetery. Sophies family would like to thank all her friends at the Country Club Apartments, the medical Staff, nurses and nurse techs of St. Elizabeth Medical Center and the Special Care Unit of the 4th floor for the kindness and compassion shown to Sophie through her difficult time.
