UTICA – Rose E. Saunders, 78, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021, at The Pines of Utica. Rose was born on October 29, 1942, in Brooklyn, the daughter of Mike and Ruth (Freeman) Pahon. She was educated in West Leyden schools and earned a degree in Food Service from SUNY Morrisville. On July 25, 1985, Rose married James Saunders, a union of 35 years. Rose was a cook with The Pines of Utica prior to retirement. Surviving are her children, William Hayes and his wife, Erlinda, Barbara Ruchala and her husband, Gerald Teal, Laura McGee and Michael McGee; stepchildren, Douglas, David, Cathy and James Saunders, Jr.; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Dawn Marie; stepson, Donald Saunders and brother, Robert Saunders. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Monday, April 12, from 3:30 - 4:00 p.m. at McGrath, Myslinski, Karboski & Nunn Funeral Directors, 470 French Rd., Utica. Funeral services will commence following visitation at 4:00 p.m.
