Mary Hapanowicz New Hartford Mary V. Hapanowicz, 74, a lifelong area resident passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at the St. Luke's Home with her loving family at her side. She was born in Yorkville on May 22, 1934 the daughter of George and Mary Barzee Clarke and attended local schools. On April 20, 1958 she was married to Stanley Hapanowicz at Sacred Heart Church, Utica; a loving union shared for over 50 years. She was a member of the Church of The Sacred Heart / St. Mary's, the Confraternity of Christian Mothers at St. Mary's, the New York Mills and Whitesboro Seniors, the Notre Dame Boosters and the Happy Travelers. Mary will be remembered by her dedication to her God, her husband, her children, her grandchildren and her friends. She enjoyed attending her children's sporting activities, the family gatherings and working along with her husband with his catering business. She was also an avid Buffalo Bills fan Her survivors include her beloved husband Stanley Hapanowicz of New Hartford; two daughters, Christine Hapanowicz of New York Mills and Katherine Hapanowicz and Chris Godlewski of New Hartford; four sons and their wives, Mark and Beth Hapanowicz of Clinton, Stephen Hapanowicz of Charlotte, NC; Andrew and Jaynene Hapanowicz of Morris Plains, NJ and Edward and Laura Hapanowicz of Rome; 11 grandchildren, Anthony, Lawrence (L.J.), Elyssa (E), Olivia, Lauren, Christopher, Anna, Mary Josephine, Matthias, Samantha and Noah; a sister Deborah Clarke of Utica and three brothers and their wives, George and Gloria Clarke of Utica, Robert and Karen Clarke of Buffalo and Roger and Linda Clarke of Albany. Also included are a Goddaughter Sherry Reeves and several nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. She was pre-deceased by a sister Helen Blum and brothers Francis and Thomas Clarke. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:45am at the Kowalczyk Funeral Home 284 Main Street, New York Mills and at 11:30am at the Church of the Sacred Heart / St. Mary's where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by her brother-in-law Rev. Arthur Hapanowicz. Relatives and friends may call on Friday from 4 until 7pm. Burial will take place in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Whitestown. Mary's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of the Clark West unit of the St. Luke's Home and also to the 4th Floor unit of Faxton St. Luke's healthcare for the excellent care and compassion shown to both she and her family. They would also like to acknowledge Melissa Sadallah for her assistance over the years.
