January 18, 1934 - January 27, 2022
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Marguerite “Margaret” Jakubowski, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, of Utica. Margaret passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at the Siegenthaler Center with her loving family by her side. Margaret was born on January 18, 1934, the daughter of Joseph Fremento and Rose Mistico. Margaret was raised in Utica and was a graduate of Thomas R. Proctor High School. A devout Christian, Margaret volunteered with Hospice, the Grace Church Soup Kitchen, and the Compassion Coalition. At one time a caseworker for Oneida County, but Margaret’s most important role was being a homemaker. Margaret was loved endlessly by her family and adored by all who knew her. She was a special light in the world and lovingly known as our “heart.” She will forever be missed for her honest and tender wit and her constant desire to fill the hearts (and stomachs) of everyone around her. Margaret was more than a wife, mother, and grandmother… she was truly our most treasured friend. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 42 years, Francis “Jake” Jakubowski, her daughters, Debra (Vic) Velton, Natalie (Ted) Fauss, Charlene Deon, and sons, David (Brenda) Perritano and John (Kathy McSweeney) Jakubowski. Also surviving her are her grandchildren, Dominique Bruzzese, Francesca (Jake) Capecelatro, Victoria Velton, David Perritano, and Matthew Deon, as well as her great-granddaughter, Shea Capecelatro. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Glenna Fremento, Joan Jakubowski, Carole Fruci, and Barbara Jakubowski. She was predeceased by her parents, in-laws, Frank and Helen Jakubowski, sister, Rita Vescio, brothers, Philip Fremento and Dominick Fruci, and brother-in-law Robert Jakubowski. Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Friday, February 4th at 11 a.m. at Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish, Our Lady of Lourdes campus. The family will receive guests following the Mass. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Utica. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Margaret’s memory to two of the many organizations close to her heart: Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. (www.hospicecareinc.org) or Tri-Une Healing Ministries of Oriskany (www.triunehealingministries.com.) Arrangements are under the direction of Kowalczyk Funeral Home, 470 French Rd., Utica.
