Lottie Miga New York Mills Lottie Miga, 98, a lifelong New York Mills resident died peacefully on Saturday, September 6, 2008 with her family at her side at the St. Joseph Nursing Home. She was born in New York Mills on January 20, 1910 the daughter of Michael and Emilia Szot Miga and attended local schools. Lottie was employed with the Dunlop Tire Co. for 35 years until her retirement in 1972. She was a lifelong member of St. Marys Church, New York Mills, the Hilltop Seniors, the Sacred Heart and Rosary Societies of St. Marys, the Legion of Mary and a former member of the St. Joseph Guild. In her younger years she volunteered with St. Joseph Nursing Home and also was involved wit the St. Marys Philharmonic Choir. Lottie enjoyed music and traveling. She will be remembered as a kind care giving member of her family who was always there when needed. Her survivors include her 4 sisters and a brother-in-law, Stella Piekielniak of New York Mills, Helen Wiatr of Yorkville, Julia Nikodem of New York Mills and Jane and her husband Thomas White of Cape Cod, MA and a Godson Dr. Stanley Wiatr of MT. Also included are 3 nieces, 7 nephews and many great nieces and nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister Jessie Miga, her Goddaughter Agnes Piekielniak Smith and brothers-in-law Stanley Ryczek, Dr. Thaddeus Piekielniak, Adam Nikodem and Edmund Wiatr Sr. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9:15am at the Kowalczyk Funeral Home, 284 Main Street New York Mills, and at 10am at the Church of the Sacred Heart and St. Mary where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Valentine Krul. Relatives and friends may call Tuesday from 4 until 7pm. The Sacred Heart Rosary Society will gather at 5pm for services. Burial will take place in Sts Stanislaus & Casimer Cemetery. Lotties family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Sisters, nurses and staff of the St. Joseph Nursing Home and also Rev. David Sambor for the excellent care and compassion she received throughout her stay.
