Josephine Mazurowski Utica Josephine M. Mazurowski, 82, a lifelong resident of Utica passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. She was born in Utica on June 19, 1926 the daughter of Anthony and Mary Tekla Bielewicz and attended local schools. She was united in marriage to Edward Mazurowski on July 3, 1954 in Holy Trinity Church, Utica. Josephine was employed with Griffiss Air Force Base for many years, leaving to begin her life with Ed. She took great pride in raising her family and was an active volunteer in her childrens various school activities and the PTA Josephine will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. She also enjoyed music, the Sunday comics, playing bingo and visiting with her dear friend, Emily. Josephine was a member of Holy Trinity Church and a dedicated catholic. Her faith sustained and comforted her through her life. Her survivors include her four daughters, Elaine and her husband Gerald Bergbower of Gouveneur, Laurie Mazurowski of Utica, Lynn and her husband Fred Pflanz of New Hartford and Phyllis and her husband James Tarkowski of Gouveneur; two sons, Francis and his wife Lillian Mazurowski of Utica and Edward J. Mazurowski of Albany; a sister, Caroline Zerdecki of New York Mills; two brothers, Edwin and his wife Lorraine Bielewicz of Utica and Stanley and his wife Honey Bielewicz of Murrells Inlet, SC; eight grandsons; Michael, Chad, Josh and his wife Jenna, Andrew, Jeremy, David, Chewy and Adam; a granddaughter, Shelly and her husband Andy; a great-great-granddaughter, Lelu; She was pre-deceased by her husband and her son. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 8:30am at the Kowalczyk Funeral Home 1156 Lincoln Avenue, Utica and at 9am at holy Trinity Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday from 4 until 7 pm. Burial will take place in Holy Trinity Cemetery. Josephines family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Norton, the nurses and staff of the Pines at Utica and the St. Elizabeth Medical Center ICU for the kindness and compassion shown to her throughout her stay.
