Jean R. Janiszewski

February 26, 1929 - February 5, 2022

Jean R. Janiszewski, 92, formerly of Utica and Thendara was born February 26, 1929, to Andrew and Nellie Reczek and passed away on February 5, 2022, to join the love of her life, Edward Janiszewski. Jean was educated at Transfiguration School and Rome Free Academy. She married Edward Janiszewski, on October 30, 1948. Jean was a devoted wife and mother who was a quiet and gentle spirit. She enjoyed cooking Polish dishes, gardening, reading, arts and crafts, and loved her shopping trips. She was employed as a stenographer at Rome State School and as a sales associate at the Boston Store. Jean and Ed loved their life in the Adirondacks, enjoying the wildlife and life on Okara Lakes. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Sue Soulia who gave Jean compassionate care for five years. Jean is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Andrea and Rick Zaugg, Indiana, Pamela and Eric O’Neill, North Syracuse, Sharon and Jim Zaugg, Indiana, and Jean and Jim Grande, Florida. She was blessed with nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren who lovingly called her Babci. Jean was predeceased by her loving husband, Edward; her parents; and brothers, Edward and Thomas Reczek. Jean’s life will be celebrated on May 31st, 2022, at St. Bartholomew’s Church, 189 Park Ave., Old Forge, NY with visitation at 11:00 and Mass at 11:30 followed by the burial in Riverview Cemetery.
