Elaine E. (Sholette) Pearce

February 2, 1941 - June 2, 2022

Elaine E. (Sholette) Pearce, 81, passed away on June 2, 2022, in Naples, FL, one day after reaching her 59th wedding anniversary with her surviving husband, David F. Pearce, MD. She was predeceased by her siblings, Memory Morley and Gerald Sholette. She is also survived by children: David F. Pearce Jr. (Heather), Stephen L. Pearce (Gina) and Michelle S. Pearce Patsell (Chuck). She was the adored “Grandie” to her six grandchildren, Alexandra and Pearce Patsell, Kendall and Jackson Pearce, Wyatt and Sawyer Pearce. Also surviving are her brother Lauren, sister-in-law, Susan Pearce (Marie Tantalo), brother-in-law F. Charles Pearce (Cindi) and numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends. Elaine was born on February 2, 1941, in Ogdensburg, NY the youngest child of Lawrence and Evelyn (Dumas) Sholette. After high school, she attended LeMoyne College/St. Joseph’s School of Nursing. Upon receiving her nursing degree, Elaine worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse, NY where she met medical student and the love of her life, David. During the course of their married life together, they lived and worked in California, Libya, Syracuse and finally raising their family in New Hartford, NY. Elaine was an active member of the Utica Curling Club, Garden Club, and the Yahnundasis Golf Club. After retirement, they moved to Edwards, CO where she was a member at the Alpine Club and subsequently settled in Naples, FL where she became a member of St. Williams Catholic Church and the Pelican Isle Yacht Club. Elaine was a “class act” who excelled as a gourmet cook and interior decorator, loved to entertain, read, sew, play Bridge, snow ski, golf, became a Certified Master Gardner and was the “chief organizer” for numerous charitable and social events; she loved to travel with her husband and family and made friends everywhere they lived or traveled with her winning smile, charming personality, quick wit and ready laugh. Elaine touched many lives and will be dearly missed by all who will love her forever. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Kowalczyk Funeral Home, 470 French Road, Utica, NY 13502. A memorial service will commence at 4:00 pm, immediately following visitation hours. A Celebration of Life for Elaine will also be held in the Fall at the Pelican Isle Yacht Club, Naples, FL at a date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Avow Hospice, Inc., 1095 Whippoorwill Lane, Naples, FL 34105 or directly in her name at the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at lls.org .
