Dorothy "Dottie" Williams
August 31, 1945 - October 11, 2021
Marcy – Dorothy “Dottie” A. Williams, 76, formerly of Oriskany, passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021, in the comfort of home with her loving family at her side. Born in Utica on August 31, 1945, Dottie is the daughter of the late James and Dorothy (Leary) Martin. She was a graduate of UFA, attended Lowell Community College, Lowell, MA, and earned a Certificate in Gerontology from Utica College. At one time, Dottie was the Oncology Support Services Coordinator at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare and recently retired as the Director of Volunteer Services at Eastern Star Nursing Home, a position that was close to her heart. On September 12, 1964, Dottie was joined in marriage to Richard (Barrie) Williams, at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, a blessed union of 57 years. More than anything, Dottie loved her family. In particular, she adored her daughters who she always referred to as “My girls.” She lived for family time at her beloved camp on Kayuta Lake, - Grandma's Place - "Where cousins go to become best friends". It was of utmost importance to her that her immediate and extended family remain close. She lived her life with an open door attitude - her home and her camp were always open to anyone who wanted to visit. Her passion was for hospitality. She loved decorating, entertaining, and party planning. Attention to detail was apparent in everything she did. Dottie was a compassionate, empathetic soul who dedicated her time and efforts to caring for the sick and elderly. Kindness radiated from her and she made a genuine difference in the lives of all she touched. In her last words, Mom wanted her daughters to remember her as their "Hero". Mom, you are our hero and we will love you always! Dottie is survived by her husband, Barrie, her daughters and their families; Debbie and Travis Finn and their children, Nicholas and Stephanie Finn; Michelle and Michael Smith and their children Austin and Jenna Smith, and Amber Smith; Denise and Pat Cassidy and their children Nathan, Brandon, and Ethan Cassidy; sisters, Patricia Smith and Sue Militano. She was predeceased by her sister, Mary Lou Roberts. She leaves many nieces and nephews and a special cousin, SueAnn Dellerba. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at Surridge & Roberts Funeral Home, 470 French Rd., Utica. Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. from Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish, Lourdes Campus, 2222 Genesee St., Utica, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
