Bruce Henry Bates

January 28, 1957 - February 18, 2022

Bruce Henry Bates, 65, of Utica passed away on February 18, 2022, with his family by his side at MVHS Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. Bruce was born in Cortland on January 28, 1957, the son of Henry and Wanda Bates. He attended and graduated from Beaver Falls High School in Beaver Falls, PA in 1976. Bruce served in the U.S. Navy after graduating high school from 1977 to 1981. He was employed at International Marketing Group for over twenty years. Bruce enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing in his free time. Bruce is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kim (Bunal) Bates, his children: son, Brandon Bates; daughter, Amanda (Bates) White and her spouse David White; daughter, La Reina Bates; and son, Brian Bates and his spouse Hope (Dye) Bates. Bruce is also survived by his sister, Alice Shaler and her spouse, Larry Shaler, as well as, his grandchildren. Bruce was predeceased by his parents and his brother, David Bates. The family would like to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to the staff at MVHS Rehabilitation & Nursing Center for their compassionate care. A special thanks to Lisa and Julissa who went beyond what anyone could ever ask. No funeral services are planned.
