NEW HARTFORD - Beverly Gene Ptak, of Bradenton, FL, (formerly New Hartford, NY), passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her beloved family on Monday, February 14, 2022, at the age of 83. Beverly was born March 4, 1938, in Oneida, NY, the daughter of Frank E. Parmeter and Marie Rita (Goulette) Parmeter. She graduated from Utica Catholic Academy, class of '56. During the years of 1987 - 2004, Beverly worked in the Office of Student Development Services at Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC), Utica, NY. She was also a past President of the Christ Child Society of Utica. In August 1959, she married Edward Ptak, whom she met while working at General Electric in Utica. After the passing of her husband, Beverly relocated to the Gold Tree Community in Bradenton, FL, where she and Ed had set up a winter home, along with many friends from the Upstate NY area. While living in New Hartford, NY, Beverly owned a ceramic business and taught classes for over 20 years, which led to many friendships throughout upstate NY. She was close with all of her neighbors residing on Taber Drive and maintained close ties with everyone over the many decades. All of Beverly's family remember her as always kind, caring, and thoughtful, who cherished her family and enjoyed raising her 5 children. Beverly was an avid reader, a trait which she passed on to her children. While loving life living in Florida, Beverly was active in her community of Gold Tree, and Our Lady Queen Martyrs Church. She enjoyed numerous outings and trips with the ladies of the Red Hat Club and card nights with all her friends in the community. She will be very missed by all her friends in the community. Beverly is survived by her children, Edward Ptak Jr. of Woodbridge, VA, John Ptak of Bradenton, FL, Don Robert Ptak of KY, Diane (Ptak) Galler and husband, Jim Galler of Boonville, NY, Kenneth Ptak of South Lyon, MI; grandchildren twins, Austin and Nicholas; sisters, Rosmarie Hatch and Grace Ely; sisters-in-law, Virginia Potrzeba and Dolores Ptak; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Beverly was predeceased by her parents, Marie Rita Goulette Chesebro and Frank E. Parmeter, brother, Charles Parmeter and sisters, Linda Herb and Patricia Lomonco. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, February 24, from 4-6 p.m. at Kowalczyk Funeral Home, 470 French Rd., Utica. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 25, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, Utica. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Beverly’s name may be made to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Organization (https://www.helpfightra.org/) Beverly's family would like to thank Tidewell Hospice for their assistance and care.
