Antonina Sniadach Utica Antonina Sniadach, 102, died with family and staff from the Heritage Health Care Center by her side on Tuesday, November 18, 2008. Antonina had been resident of the home for nearly 25 years, and during that time she had developed many friendships with the caring staff that took excellent care of her. She was born in Poland, Europe on May 9, 1906 the daughter of Joseph and Marcjanna Ruszczyk Sniadach and came to the U.S. on November 5, 1954. She settled in Utica, New York to be near her sister, Mary Kiersznowski. She was employed with the Mele Manufacturing Co. for many years until her retirement in 1971. After retirement she continued to work, babysitting and providing care to others. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church, the Sacred Heart and Rosary Societies of Holy Trinity and the Third Order of St. Francis. She was very proud of her Polish heritage and enjoyed the customs and traditions of her homeland. She was equally proud of becoming a US Citizen, having obtained her naturalization certificate on May 9, 1968. She is survived by her niece Genevieve Kiersznowski Pikul of CNY Presbyterian Home, New Hartford and a nephew Stanley Kiersznowski of TX. Also included are several great nieces and nephews who locally include Rose Marie and her husband Richard Roberts of Whitesboro, Michael and Angela Pikul of Whitesboro and Frank and Elaine Kiersznowski of Sauquoit and many great grand nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her 2 sisters and 2 brothers. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will take place on Friday at 9am at Holy Trinity Church, Utica. Those who wish may call on Friday morning one hour prior to the Mass at the Kowalczyk Funeral Home 1156 Lincoln Avenue, Utica. Entombment will take place at the Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum of Holy Trinity Cemetery. Antoinette's family would like to express their sincere thanks to Rev. Arthur Hapanowicz of Holy Trinity Church and to Barbara Walerski for the assistance over the years and also to the nurses and staff of the Heritage Health Care Center for the excellent care and compassion throughout her stay.
